This marks Netflix’s longest gap between installments since releasing Parts 1 and 2 in 2021 and Part 3 in 2023.

The announcement
The formal announcement came through Netflix Tudum and the platform’s official social channels. Netflix released a new poster alongside the news. While the poster reveals little about the story, it hints at the return of the sleek, high-stakes tension that has defined the series since its debut.
Production details
The production started in Paris in May 2025 and completed by late summer or early fall 2025.
Production took place throughout 2025 primarily across Paris. Unlike earlier parts that followed a shorter structure, Part 4 features eight episodes, making it the most extensive chapter so far. The eight-episode fourth season will arrive around three years after the conclusion of Part 3 in October 2023.
Cast
Omar Sy will reprise his role as the gentleman thief Assane Diop in the fourth season. He will be joined in the cast by Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine, and Laïka Blanc-Francard.
The full cast also includes Etan Simon as Raoul Diop, Clotilde Hesme as Pellegrini, Nicole Garcia as Anne Pellegrini, and Hervé Pierre as Hubert Pellegrini.
Omar Sy and Louis Leterrier serve as showrunners.
Creative team
The series is written by Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud, Florent Meyer, Tigran Rosine, and Pennda Ba. Directors are Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout, and Hugo Gélin. The show is produced by Gaumont with Carrousel Studios.
Lupin is created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan, with the participation of Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine. The series is loosely inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s Arsène Lupin character.
Where Part 3 left off
In Part 3, Assane steals the Black Pearl, earns the support of the French public, fakes his own death, and saves his estranged mother’s life. He then realizes the only way to ensure a safe life for his wife, son, mother, and best friend is to sacrifice himself. He turns himself into the police.
Part 4 has multiple questions to answer left dangling at the end of Part 3. These include what happened to Benjamin while in jail, why Hubert did not use his power to escape after his arrest, and whether Keller’s blackmailing of Assane has more going on than it appears.
What to expect
The Season 4 plot is likely to directly follow the events of Part 3. The upcoming season will likely examine how Assane Diop deals with the fallout from his acts while in custody. The official description suggests strategic twists, high-stakes cons, and emotional reckonings.
The show’s global reach
Lupin has been a global sensation for Netflix. Part 1 reached an estimated 70 million households within its first 28 days on the platform. It was also the first French-language show to rank No. 1 in several territories, including the US.
Inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s Lupin stories, it continues to be one of Netflix’s most popular non-English original series globally.
